Credit Card Payments

Credit card payments are accepted via telephone, in person, or online.  A 3% fee will be charged for credit card payments.

Delinquent Accounts

Utility bills are mailed out the last day of each month and are due and payable 15th of each month.  Any payment not received by the 15th of each month becomes delinquent.  There is a $10.00 late fee that will be assessed monthly on an account that is carrying an unpaid balance.  Delinquent accounts are subject to disconnection.  To re-establish service, payment must be made in full with cash, credit/debit card or a money order including a $100.00 reconnection fee.  Reconnection of service ceases on weekdays at 2:00 PM.  Service will remain disconnected until paid at City Hall between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 PM weekdays.  Payments that are returned from the bank for non-payment will be charged a $20.00 fee and are subject to immediate disconnection.

If you are new in town and need to set up services for utilities, you will need to complete the form below.  The City of West Fargo has adopted the "Red Flag Rules" which implements an identity theft prevention program and as a part of the compliance a written application for service must be completed by anyone seeking utility service in the City of West Fargo.

Moving Out

When moving out you need to contact the City of West Fargo and let us know or the bill will stay in your name.  Please contact us via, email, phone or fax and let us know so we can get the information we need (forwarding address, closing dates/moving dates, new owners names etc).

Understanding Your Bill

Water Rates and Charges

Water services are billed on a monthly basis for the prior month's service. Charges for water are based on usage recorded from monthly meter readings then billed on One Thousand (1,000) gallon increments based on meter readings obtained by the city.
Each account will be charged a monthly service fee of $7.00, which does not include any water consumption. In addition to the minimum monthly service fee of $7.00, West Fargo residents will be charged a rate of $7.00 per 1000 gallons of water consumed.

Vector Control

A .50 cent charge is included each month for vector (mosquito) control is added to all water bills.  The proceeds are placed into a special vector control fund and be used only for purposes of funding the City of West Fargo’s vector control program (mosquito spraying).



 This .50 cent charge is placed in a special forestry fund to be used to fund grass and tree maintenance on public property, including public right-of-way in the City.


Sewer Rates

 Sewer charges are billed on a monthly basis. Charges for this service are based on metered water consumption.

The owner or occupant of each residential or commercial premises connected with the sewer system of the City shall pay a minimum service charge of nine dollars ($9.00) per month.

All residential and commercial premises shall pay an additional charge of one dollar ($1.00) per one thousand (1,000) gallons for flows greater than ten thousand (10,000) gallons of water per month.


Garbage Collection Rates

The fees for garbage collection shall be paid monthly and shall be as follows:

  1. Single Family Residence:  $13.00 per month
  2. Multiple Dwellings and Mobile Home Park unit property:  $13.00 per month for each house unit / apt unit.
  3. Commercial Establishments, factories, places of public entertainment and other business places may rent dumpsters from the City of West Fargo, if available.  The rental is based on volume and # of pickups per month.


Garbage Cans: Required – Capacity – Construction

Garbage cans need to be watertight and made of metal or plastic with a close-fitting metal or plastic cover, and shall have a capacity of not less than ten (10) nor more than thirty-three (33) gallons. 


Recycle Program:  Working Together For a Better Environment

It is the City of West Fargo's objective to encourage the reuse of valuable resources and to reduce the quantity of solid waste that must be brought to the landfill. Your cooperation and participation is a valuable contribution toward the achievement of that goal. The city has contracted with Waste Management to implement a single stream recycling system for this purpose. Waste Management will provide a 96 gal. tote to put all of your recycling material in one container. Recycling is collected every two weeks on your regularly scheduled garbage day.  You will receive a recycling collection schedule when you receive your tote.
