The West Fargo Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week program designed to give citizens the opportunity to experience the daily work of the West Fargo Police Department. Participants have the opportunity to participate in activities including classroom training, tours, ride-alongs and other hands-on training.
Citizens Police Academy participants are not trained or qualified to act as a law enforcement officer. Participants will gain a better understanding of the West Fargo Police Department operations and responsibilities.
Since 2000, the West Fargo Police Department Citizen Police Academy has served as an educational tool for residents as well as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship with the community.
There is no participation fee for the West Fargo Citizens Police Academy.
Interested participants must be a resident of West Fargo or currently employed in West Fargo and 20 years of age or older. Only chosen and notified applicants are able to participate in the program.

Community Engagement Officer Rhonda Jorgensen will accept the Citizens Police Academy applications in the order they arrive. The West Fargo Police Department will conduct a background check. Officer Jorgensen will notify all applicants regarding the status of their acceptance. Only selected applicants, who have been notified, are able to participate in the program.
