Cleanup Week

Monday, May 6, 2019

This annual event cleans up our cities by giving residents an opportunity to dispose of tires, appliances and other large items at no charge on their garbage collection day.

Cleanup Week rules for all cities

  • Separate items of the same type into distinct piles (tires, appliances, furniture, brush, household garbage, etc.). Separate trucks collect the items.
  • Place garbage in disposable containers, except for oversized items.
  • Items will be collected on your normal garbage pickup day. Do not set items out more than one day early.
  • Crews will not return to pick up garbage set out too late.
  • Remove refrigerator and freezer doors. Do not place food or any other waste inside appliances.
  • Items must be from residences; no commercial waste will be accepted. Keep household garbage at least four feet away from other Cleanup Week items.

West Fargo Cleanup Week Rules

  • Stack all refuse in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • We collect tires, appliances and batteries at the curb all year long on garbage pickup days. Up to six tires will be accepted curbside and at the transfer station for residents only.
  • Building materials will be collected; except for concrete and dirt.
  • Waste oil, paints, varnishes and other household hazardous waste should always be taken directly to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 606 43 1/2 St. N., Fargo. (Checkout the product reuse room filled with free products while you are there!)
  • Do not put yard waste or compost with your regular garbage or with Cleanup Week collection items.
  • Recycling needs to be separated from any garbage or clean up week materials.
  • Electronics such as televisions and computers should not be set out for pickup. Instead, please recycle them at Fargo Solid Waste, 2301 8th Ave. N. For more information, call 701-241-1449. Residents can also take one television and one computer, per household, per month, to the household hazardous waste facility.
