[ARCHIVED] West Fargo Fire Department responds to residential fire Wednesday

West Fargo Fire Department Patch

At 10:01 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, the West Fargo Fire Department was called to 247 Ninth Ave. W. for reports of smoke inside an apartment.

Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke throughout the apartment and located a small fire in a laundry room wall. Fire crews opened the wall and put out smoldering embers. The apartment that contained the fire was ventilated and overhauled with no other signs of fire.

As crews worked on the fire, other residents of the building were evacuated as a safety precaution. They were allowed to return to their homes a short time later. The residents of the unit that contained the fire were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No further comment will be made at this time.
