[ARCHIVED] 11 a.m. April 28, 2020-Eagle Run east retention pond to be drained for repairs in May

Retention Pond

The Eagle Run east retention pond, located at 3351 Ninth Street S., will be drained in May to complete lift station repairs. Water levels have recently decreased in the pond due to mechanical issues at the nearby lift station. The remaining water will be removed in order to clean sediment from the lift station and complete the necessary repairs.

Water levels will be partially restored by water from adjacent ponds and will then return to normal levels over time. The retention pond works with the lift station to collect, store, convey and treat stormwater runoff in the area before it is released into the Sheyenne River. Retention ponds are a critical part of the stormwater management system of West Fargo and are not safe to enter for recreational purposes due to the pumps, pipes and drains in the system, as well as the pollutants that are collected in the pond for treatment.
