Lois Sepahban, author of the young adult novel “Paper Wishes,” will participate in the West Fargo Public Library’s One Book, One Community event at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8. Attendees will have the opportunity to complete a craft inspired by the book and participate in a discussion with the California-based author via Skype.

The 2017 One Book, One Community celebration discusses the themes of Chinese and Japanese discrimination and internment camps in the U.S. during World War II through book selections and community events in West Fargo, Fargo and Moorhead. Sepahban’s “Paper Wishes” is the story of Manami and her family as they are relocated to a Japanese internment camp.

Geared toward children in grades 4-8, parents and teachers are encouraged to read “Paper Wishes” with their children and students and attend this event together. No registration is required and copies of the book are available at area libraries. Discussion questions are available in advance at the West Fargo Public Library service desk.
