Next week, the West Fargo Fire Department will join the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to Light the Night and honor fallen firefighters and their families Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. During the week, the fire department’s stations will light up with red lights to recognize the more than 100 firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty.
“The community has always shown us amazing support and we encourage them to join us in changing exterior lights red to honor the firefighters who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Fire Chief Dan Fuller.
Businesses and residents can join the official national tribute to fallen firefighters by lighting up their buildings during this week with red exterior lights, which are available at local hardware stores. Participants can register and submit photos of their lit up property at https://www.firehero.org/events/memorial-weekend/about/light-night-fallen-firefighters/department-support/.
The public can further participate by viewing a livestream of the America’s Tribute to Fallen Firefighters at 10 a.m. Oct. 4, 2020. To view the event, go to https://www.firehero.org/events/memorial-weekend/.
