[ARCHIVED] Four-way stop installation on Second Street E. and Pyle Lane E. beginning Monday, Nov. 9

Four way stop

The intersection of Second Street E. and Pyle Lane E. in the River’s Bend development will become a four-way stop beginning Monday, Nov. 9. Because of this change, the two-way stop at McLeod Drive E. and Second Street E. will be change from stopping north-south traffic and instead stop east-west traffic. Additionally, signs warning motorists of the oncoming stop signs will be added nearby.

Due to the growth of the development, traffic control will be more suitable in this location. Four-way stop signs are used at the intersection of two roadways that contain similar traffic volumes and are deemed absolutely necessary. These changes were made after the City of West Fargo studied the intersections, and factored in the increased building in the development and the other existing traffic control elements in the neighborhood.

While stop signs are a vital traffic control tool to maintain public safety, it is still the responsibility of all motorists to follow the speed limit, traffic rules and pedestrian safety rules to protect the public. If a resident observes traffic violations that threaten safety, they are encouraged to call (701) 433-5500 to report the violation to the West Fargo Police Department.
