Looking for a great way to get involved in the community? Passionate about education, reading, and supporting our community's children? We want YOUR help.

The Mobile Library Task Force is now accepting applications for members. The ideal applicant would be passionate about education, community engagement and bringing the joy of reading to children, as a majority of the work done by the Mobile Library Task Force is in direct support of the Little Red Reading Bus of West Fargo. The Little Red Reading Bus is West Fargo’s bookmobile that brings the library directly to children in the community.

Mobile Library Task Force membership requires a time commitment of approximately two hours per month, including a monthly meeting. No prior experience is necessary, but applicants should be a resident of West Fargo or the West Fargo School District boundary.

Interested applicants can fill out the online application, which can be found at https://www.westfargolibrary.org/FormCenter/Library-37/Mobile-Library-Task-Force-Application-232. The application deadline is Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.

About the Mobile Library Task Force

The Mobile Library Task Force is a team whose primary goal is to advance literacy in West Fargo through mobile library and outreach services, specifically through the use of the Little Red Reading Bus.

Specifically, the Mobile Library Task Force will work to advance literacy in West Fargo by helping plan the Little Red Reading Bus’s service route for Summer 2021 while focusing efforts on service to low-income and underserved children and families. The team will also work to improve mobile library services through fund raising and community partnerships and advocate for library programs and services in the community.

A critical component of the Mobile Library Task Force will be to help plan the Little Red Reading Bus’s mobile library service for summer 2021. This summer service will help fulfill a host of community needs such as providing books for low-income families, decreasing summer learning loss in West Fargo students, providing children access to and a choice of books, communicating the value of reading to West Fargo residents, increasing West Fargo student reading achievement and, of course, providing a fun and unique summer activity for children.

There are five volunteer positions on the Mobile Library Task Force, with one position open to a resident who resides within the boundaries of the West Fargo Public School District, and others representing the West Fargo Public Library board of directors, Friends of the West Fargo Public Library, West Fargo Public Schools, and West Fargo Educational Foundation.

The West Fargo Public Library board of directors appoints each member who will serve a one-year term.
