The West Fargo Fire Department and Fargo Fire Department are teaming up to put on a 10-week recruit academy for both departments’ recently recruited firefighters. The training will consist of classroom work, drills, ride-a-longs, live burn scenarios and a graduation ceremony.
“We are excited to join the Fargo Fire Department to hold another fire academy,” said West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller. “Holding a joint academy helps both departments learn to function together, to better serve both the West Fargo and Fargo communities.”
This is the second time the West Fargo Fire Department has collaborated with the Fargo Fire Department to hold a recruit firefighter academy. Instructors from both departments will provide instruction to recruits. West Fargo will have one recruit and Fargo will have five recruits participating in the academy.
“Holding a joint academy provides the foundation for the building blocks of current and future joint services provided to our communities,” said Fargo Fire Chief Steve Dirksen. “It is our hope that this academy will foster strong working relationships between our departments from the entry level firefighter through the Chiefs of the departments.”
