[ARCHIVED] West Fargo Fire Department responds to single engine plane crash Tuesday, Aug. 10

The West Fargo Fire Department was dispatched around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10 for an aircraft accident. Upon arrival, a single engine aircraft crash was located, with one pilot inside, in a soybean field west of the city lagoons on 12th Avenue. The pilot sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The pilot was not local out of the West Fargo Municipal Airport. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. 

The aircraft sustained heavy damage to the engine compartment and the dashboard. The West Fargo Fire Department extracted the pilot with the assistance of the West Fargo Municipal airport staff.  

Due to additional immediate staffing capabilities, the West Fargo Fire Department responded to the call to assist West Fargo Rural Fire Department. There was no fire on scene despite the region’s dry conditions.
