The Public Works Department will plow all West Fargo roads the week of Jan. 3 using the maintenance zone schedule. This schedule divides the City of West Fargo into five specific zones that are assigned a day of the week for maintenance to occur. During the designated day of the week, no on-street parking is allowed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in that zone. Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed by the West Fargo Police Department or towed.
Depending upon the weather conditions and the amount of vehicles parked on the street, it may take longer than one day to plow a maintenance zone. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid on-street parking in your zone until your maintenance zone day has passed and plows have cleaned your road. South of the interstate, open spaces led to a few significant areas of snow accumulation. Crews will have snow blowers and trucks to haul excessive snow out of these areas.
Street crews have observed many residents who have blown snow into the streets. This is a code violation and will lead to larger snow piles at the end of driveways after the snowplows complete their maintenance. Residents should anticipate removing these piles after the plows have cleared their roads.
Residents should also visit the Adopt A Hydrant app at https://map.westfargond.gov/AdoptAHydrant/ to identify any hydrants on their street that need to be cleared after the plows come through. Ensure fire hydrants have 3-feet of clearance on all sides and a clear path to the street for fire department access. One hydrant can protect an entire block and saves valuable time during a fire to protect property and lives.
