The City of West Fargo will begin a Main Avenue tree planting project Thursday, May 5. Trees will be planted on the north and south sides of Main Avenue, as well as in the center median from Morrison St. W to I-94. Planting is scheduled to take four weeks and minor traffic delays may occur throughout the project. Residents are encouraged to take extra caution while driving and be aware of people and equipment working throughout the area.
This project will plant approximately 276 trees in 13 varieties to enhance West Fargo’s urban forest. The City of West Fargo has been a Tree City USA community through the Arbor Foundation since 1984. The City’s Forestry Division maintains a thriving urban forest, which offers many advantages to our community. Some of the benefits of a healthy urban forest include traffic sound absorption, increased property value, reduction of energy costs, and carbon dioxide absorption, among others.
