[ARCHIVED] November free movie screenings tell veteran stories at the West Fargo Library

This November, the West Fargo Library is sharing veteran stories on the big screen. 

Monday Matinee free movie screenings start at 1:30 p.m. every Monday afternoon. Each screening is free and open to the public, however, limited seating is available. 

The schedule is as follows: 

  • Monday, Nov. 7: "Dunkirk" 
    • "'Dunkirk' opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in..." Warner Bros. Rated PG - 13. 
  • Monday, Nov. 14: "DOG" 
    • "In this road-trip comedy, two hard-changing former Army Rangers paired against their will - Briggs (Channing Tatum) and a Belgian Maliniois named Lulu - race down the Pacific Coast in hopes of making it to a fellow soldier's funeral on time..." MGM. Rated PG-13
  • Monday, Nov. 21: "12 Strong" 
    • "This story of heroism is based on true events that unfolded a world away in the harrowing aftermath of 9/11 when a U.S. Special Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth), is chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely dangerous mission..." Warner Bros. Rated R. 
  • Monday, Nov. 28: "The Post" 
    • "In 1971, the staff of the Washington Post face a historic dilemma; whether or not to publish the Pentagon Papers, a top secret document that reveals the U.S. government knew for decades the Vietnam War was unwinnable..." Twentieth Century Fox. Rated PG-13.

The library plans to continue the Monday Matinee program into the new year, with themes for the coming months including films based on books, biographies of famous musicians, Black History Month, stories of influential women, sports movies and more.
