Posted on: March 29, 2023[ARCHIVED] City of West Fargo Spring Pruning Project

The City of West Fargo will begin a boulevard tree pruning project in early April, as weather conditions allow. During this project, the City will be pruning over 1,400 trees in the Sommerset Addition, Meyers Addition, Westwynd Addition and Lenzmeier Addition. A map of impacted trees in each addition can be found on the City’s website. There will be no traffic impacts as a result of this work, however drivers are reminded to slow down and stay alert when workers are present. The project should last through May. Contractors will follow the maintenance zone schedule when able, and work in each neighborhood the day before garbage collection. Residents should keep the street and boulevard clear of debris and vehicles to allow work to be done safely and efficiently. Following pruning, property owners adjacent to the boulevard are required by City ordinance to maintain a 14-foot area clear from tree branches on the street side and over the curb. This project is being done by the City’s Forestry division, in partnership with a private contractor, in its efforts to maintain the City’s urban forest. This pruning effort will keep municipal services equipment such as garbage trucks and snow plows from hitting branches of boulevard trees.
