[ARCHIVED] West Fargo Public Library celebrating National Library Week with Fine Amnesty

West Fargo Public Library

In honor of National Library Week April 8 through 14, the West Fargo Public Library will be waiving all late fees for items returned to the library during the week of celebration.

To return your overdue item, visit the library during regular hours April 9 through April 15. Books can be returned to the library or to a West Fargo Public Library book return kiosk. The kiosks are located inside Cash Wise Foods at 755 33rd Avenue E. and outside of Eagle Run Plaza at 3306 Sheyenne Street. The fine amnesty only applies to items being returned during the week. Fines from items previously returned late will not be removed.

National Library Week, an effort created in 1958 to encourage Americans to spend more time with books, is celebrated nationally each April to celebrate the contributions of school, public, academic and special libraries to the communities they serve.

This year, in keeping with the Libraries Lead theme, the American Library Association is asking the public to use social media to tell them how their local library led them to something of value in their lives. One randomly selected winner will receive a $100 VISA gift card and a copy of "Firebird," the Coretta Scott King Award-winning book by Misty Copeland, 2018 National Library Week Honorary Chair.

Library lovers can post to Twitter, Instagram, or on the I Love Libraries Facebook page during National Library Week for a chance to win. Entries can be a picture, video, or text. Creativity is encouraged. Just be sure they include the hashtags #NationalLibraryWeek and #LibrariesLead on their social media post for a chance to win. The promotion begins Sunday, April 8, at noon CT and ends Saturday, April 14, at noon CT.
