[ARCHIVED] City of West Fargo to begin flushing fire hydrants week of May 14

COWF_PUBLIC WORKS

The City of West Fargo public works department will begin flushing fire hydrants the week of May 14. The process will take approximately four weeks, and begin south of the interstate and end on the north side. The city flushes the hydrants to clean out the city’s water main filtration system and ensure the water is fresh. The flushing will take place between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday.

The flushing may impact the water in homes. Before running washing machines during this time residents should ensure their water is not cloudy, which indicates the presence of minerals. Residents should also bypass their filtering systems, including water softeners and refrigerator filters, for the next month. If water appears cloudy, residents should run cold water in a bathtub until it turns clear.

For questions, please contact the public works department at (701) 433-5400 or publicworks@westfargond.gov.
