Gate City Bank is encouraging the public to be aware of a phone scam following reports of fraudulent phone calls to get consumers’ confidential, personal information.

On Friday, June 29, Jennifer Dirk, Gate City’s vice president of deposit & card servicing, explained in a news release that these phone calls are part of a scam knows as “phishing” or “vishing,” which is an attempt by fraudsters to obtain sensitive information from individuals.
