While drivers are asked to avoid Sheyenne Street on the way to the fair this year, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will suspend work on the Main Avenue during the week and exit 343 on Main Avenue will be open for both directions of traffic during the fair.
"These construction zones have reduced lane sizes, uneven terrain and other variables that make them difficult to traverse right now," said West Fargo Police Department Chief Heith Janke in a statement. "When we add in traffic from the fair, we create a congested area that endangers the traveling public and personnel working on these sites. And of course, we want to remind everyone to never drink and drive which only adds to the dangers."
