[ARCHIVED] Sheyenne Street segment 1 moving to phase 2 of project Friday, Aug. 10

Segment 1 Traffic Switch Aug. 10

The head-to-head traffic on Sheyenne Street from 13th Avenue W. to 19th Avenue W. will shift to the east side of the road Friday, Aug. 10, so crews can begin reconstruction work on the west side of the road. This shift signifies the Sheyenne Street segment 1 reconstruction project moving into the second of four phases of work.

On the east side of the road, crews have completed storm sewer, concrete pavement, curb and gutter construction, sections of the new multiuse path, and installation of the traffic signal and streetlight bases. During phase 2, construction crews will complete the same work on the west side of the road. Residences living along the west side of the road have been given a temporary access road to reach their properties during phase 2.

The completed project will result in the reconstruction of a five-lane road that includes two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane to ease congestion and safety concerns. The project also includes the installation of new shared use paths, city utilities, street lights and traffic signal improvements.

The overall Sheyenne Street reconstruction project involves three segments that will reconstruct Sheyenne Street from 13th Avenue W. to 40th Avenue W. and the Sheyenne Street I-94 interchange. The two-year project kicked off in 2018 and will be completed by 2019.

All planned construction activities are tentative and dependent on weather and construction progress. To receive the latest news and alerts on street closures and road construction updates visit www.westfargostreets.com.
