The 27th annual City of West Fargo West Fest community celebration is Friday, Sept. 14-Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018. This year’s events kick off Friday with a West Fest Band Jam at the DoubleTree by Hilton, a full day of activity downtown Saturday and wraps up Sunday with Western Days at the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center.
With a theme of “Redefining Tomorrow,” this year’s celebration showcases the new POW/MIA Plaza and centers activity in downtown West Fargo, which is currently undergoing a multi-year downtown revitalization. This revitalization includes new residential and commercial development, civic spaces and an urban corridor redesign project that is intended to activate downtown West Fargo into a community hub.
Residents are encouraged to plan for a day downtown Saturday, Sept. 15. Activities on Sheyenne Street will include a soleMOTION Children’s Fun Run, 5k and 10k, Penny & Pals performance and the grand parade at noon. The POW/MIA Plaza will host a FITLIFE boot camp session as well as a dance featuring Big Toe and the Jam. Blessed Sacrament will also host a pancake breakfast, Craft and Vendor Show and Family Fun, featuring inflatable games, the Red River Zoo Mobile, face painters, a magician and more. A food court will also be available on Fourth Avenue W. off Sheyenne Street from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. On Sunday, the VFW will host a pancake breakfast and the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center will host Western Days.
