(West Fargo, N.D. – Oct. 18, 2018) Sheyenne Street, from 17th Avenue W. to south of 13th Avenue W. will close 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, for paving operations of the 11-foot median as well as the curb and gutter on the west side of the road. This closure is necessary due to the limited space on this stretch of the road for the paving equipment to operate, trucks to haul material and for personnel safety. Residents should utilize Veterans Boulevard/Ninth Street E. during the closure to travel north and south.
During the closure, residents with driveway access on the west side of the road north of 17th Avenue W. will be able to utilize the temporary access road in place for the project. The 17th Avenue W. intersection will remain open to traffic, but motorists will only be able to turn south onto Sheyenne Street.
This closure is part of the City of West Fargo’s Sheyenne Street reconstruction project that will improve traffic safety and efficiency on a stretch of Sheyenne Street from 13th Avenue W. to 40th Avenue W. This segment of the project from 13th Avenue W. to Beaton Dr. will reconstruct a 5-lane road to include two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane to ease congestion and safety concerns. The project work will include new concrete paving, curb and gutters, shared-use paths, city utilities, street lights and traffic signal improvements. The two-year project began in 2018 and coincides with the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s I-94 interchange reconfiguration project.
Motorists in this area should plan for delays and congestion during the morning and evening commutes and adjust their travel plans accordingly. Always use the ‘S’ check when traveling in and around construction areas – check your speed, space and stress.
