[ARCHIVED] West Fargo Police Department warns of West Fargo Shippers scam

Patches

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, the West Fargo Police Department received several complaints from individuals located in various states throughout the United States attempting to buy vehicles and machinery from online sources such as Craigslist. The consumer is then directed to use West Fargo Shippers, supposedly located at 625 Second Ave. NW in West Fargo, for payment and shipping arrangements.

West Fargo Shippers is not legitimate, and is a fraudulent front for attempted criminal activity. The West Fargo Police Department has confirmed that no such business exists at that address, and the owner of the property was not aware that the address was being used for illicit means. The West Fargo Police Department has not receive any complaints from local residents regarding this scam, only individuals from outside of the state.

The West Fargo Police reminds people to use good judgment when making online purchases and confirm that they are dealing with legitimate vendors before making payments. Often persons attempting to gain profit through criminal activity will offer products for a fraction of its true value.

Please contact your local law enforcement if you have been a victim of a criminal scam to make a report.

In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
