During the Monday, May 6, 2019, West Fargo City Commission meeting, West Fargo Police Department Chief Heith Janke presented the department’s 2018 annual report. Chief Janke’s presentation highlighted a host of department accomplishments and statistics, such as earning the titles of the 2018 Safest City in North Dakota and the 2019 Safest City in North Dakota and a 5.7 percent decrease in crime from 2016 to 2018.
“Our achievements and this continued decrease in crime are testaments to the quality of our community and the men and women I have the privilege to lead,” said Chief Janke.
The 2018 WFPD annual report includes Chief Janke’s highlights from the year, top investigations cases and traffic, patrol and drug statistics. The report also outlines the dozens of community programs the West Fargo Police Department participated in in 2018, such as the Pink Patch Project and the David Lemi Logulomo Scholarship for Project Lifesaver.
Other highlights of the annual report include:
• The department hired seven new officers for 61 total sworn staff.
• The department came in $95,409.35 under the final budget for the fiscal year.
• The patrol division took in a record high of 29,967 total calls for service.
• The investigations division worked 705 total cases.
• Staff logged over 6,300 training hours.
