Happy Holidays from the City of West Fargo!
The City of West Fargo is closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. These holidays affect City of West Fargo services in the following ways:


Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Garbage and Recycling Changes

  • Garbage and recycling collection does not change Tuesday, Dec. 24.
  • No garbage or recycling collection Wednesday, Dec. 25.
  • Wednesday and Thursday garbage collection occurs Thursday, Dec. 26.
  • Wednesday, Thursday and Friday recycling collection is delayed one day, ending with Friday recycling collection Saturday, Dec. 28.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Garbage and Recycling Changes

  • Garbage and recycling collection does not change Tuesday, Dec. 31.
  • No garbage or recycling collection Wednesday, Jan. 1.
  • Wednesday and Thursday garbage collection occurs Thursday, Jan. 2.
  • Wednesday, Thursday and Friday recycling collection is delayed one day, ending with Friday recycling collection Saturday, Jan. 4.

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Building Closures 


On Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, as well as Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, all municipal government buildings are closed to the public, including City Hall, Public Library, Sanitation, Public Works and the Transfer Station. The West Fargo Public Library will also close early at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. Public safety agencies are in full operation but the West Fargo Police and Fire Department buildings are closed to the public on this day.
