West Fargo Library adds second Ready to Read storytime session due to growing attendance

West Fargo Library adds afternoon session of Ready to Read storytime

Beginning Wednesday, July 6, the West Fargo Public Library will offer a second weekly session of our popular Ready to Read Storytime at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Intended for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents, Ready to Read Storytime will now take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both sessions will include the same content, so families are encouraged to choose one session to attend each week.

“During these storytimes, we do much more than just read together,” Davis said. “Our goal is to help these tiny humans practice the skills they need to succeed in school from an early age.”

At Ready to Read Storytime, children and their parents practice important early literacy skills through reading, writing, singing, movement and art activities.

“We’ve had over 1300 attendees at our in-library storytimes so far this year, with new families joining every week,” Children’s Services Librarian Sarah Davis said.

The West Fargo Public Library also offers Baby Boost Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Fridays for children 2 and under and their parents. Baby Boost Storytime sessions also include reading, singing, writing, movement and art activities, but also focus on socialization and playing together, something Davis says is uniquely important for children born during the COVID-19 pandemic.
